Snow today. First flakes of the year here in Portsmouth – about 27 at last count. So when the weather is cool does global warming disappear? That points to the contradictory nature to how we experience our environment and world – the immediate sense on top of our accumulated experience. My memory for a long time has been of cold winters turning soft, of spring coming earlier, of fall's cold coming later. And it just doesn't feel right. In New England I grew up with the idea that if you don't like the weather you just wait a minute. But the climate is the accumulation of all that experience. That's what's telling us that something is wrong.
